Frequently Asked Questions

We are happy to answer any other questions you have.

How do we support local organizations?

We see our role as supportive of the many passionate and capable nonprofit service providers and other civic organizations and government agencies on the Eastside–the organizations that actually deliver services. We look for ways to strengthen the community infrastructure by bringing these organizations together.

Do we have grants available?

Our goal is to raise funds in 2025 to be able to share grants with selected nonprofit organizations. Check back with us sometime in mid-2025!

Who do we represent in the community?

We exist to bring together different voices in the community and do not represent any single group. In particular, we connect businesses, nonprofits, governments, and the general public to address issues and opportunities. The only way to implement sustainable programs is if all of these stakeholders work together.

Are we a political organization?

We are not a political organization and we do not take a specific political position on social issues or favor one group over another. We approach issues and opportunities with an open mind and a nonpartisan focus on strengthening the community.

How do we work with businesses?

Businesses, small and large, play a critical role in the community. To have a successful community initiative requires involvement from businesses and consideration of their needs. We meet with businesses to understand their perspective and facilitate their engagement. Businesses frequently provide funding for our organization and nonprofit service providers. And businesses, if not you, are of course made up of your friends and neighbors.

How do we work with nonprofit service providers?

Nonprofit service providers are the leading edge of community engagement. The organizations on the front lines. And we listen to their needs and seek ways of supporting and helping those organizations remove barriers, increase funding, and bring them together with other members of the community. We expect to play a complementary role along side these organizations and other nonprofit foundations in the community.

How do we work with local governments?

Central to our role is working with city, county, and state government and collaborating on community initiatives. These organizations form the underlying infrastructure and of course represent our collective voice and our use of tax revenue. Listening to their needs and helping to bring the community together, across different political and geographic boundaries, is a major part of our contribution.

How do we work with other foundations?

We support and encourage any organization that strengthens the Eastside. There are many priorities and each organization has a unique role in the community. By working together and supporting each other, we can foster complementary and sustainable initiatives.
